FD1 project brief: audience, development route and open decisions
Separate recorded project directions, open product decisions and conditions that still require outside verification.

Audience and product direction
As recorded on October 27, 2026, FD1 is exploring daily nutrition for general adults in China, using IM8 as the main benchmark and AG1 as another reference. The focus is everyday use rather than a sports or fitness audience.
The project is in discovery. Age range, excluded populations, specifications, launch timing and commercial arrangements remain open. The following sections describe the current development direction.

Separate direction, RFQ assumptions and decisions
Information within one project can have different confirmation states.
| Status | Current meaning |
|---|---|
| Working direction | Daily nutrition research for adults; intended US manufacture. |
| RFQ scenario | A drink-mix powder, prioritizing a lead development and manufacturing partner. |
| Open decisions | Detailed audience, formula, specification, supplier and commercial terms. |
| Separate verification | Finished-product evidence, China pathway, label and fulfillment ownership. |

Format and formula remain undecided
A nutrition drink powder is the working scenario for manufacturer discussions. Samples and technical review will help determine serving mass, flavor, packaging and final dosage form before a specific SKU is fixed.
Vitamins, minerals, fiber or branded ingredients may be research topics. Any candidate, serving amount, flavor, instructions and claim require further evaluation and a formal decision.

US manufacturing is an intended route
Project records identify US manufacture as an intended route and prioritize a lead contractor able to coordinate formulation, sourcing, samples, production, quality testing, packaging and delivery. Each manufacturer must state in writing which steps it performs and which are subcontracted.
Next, obtain written answers on site, capacity, minimum order, costs and timing. Factory selection and the basis for origin labeling require separate verification within the manufacturing route.
China sales require product-specific checks
Cross-border e-commerce retail import into China is a recorded intended sales route. Eligibility depends on the final product and ingredients, applicable classification, responsible parties, labeling, platform, import and fulfillment rules. US manufacture alone does not establish China market access.
The 2018 Ministry of Commerce policy provides historical context for the route; current applicability and subsequent changes require review once the SKU and channel are defined. Finished-goods delivery also does not automatically include Chinese import, listing or consumer fulfillment.
Advance through questions that can be checked
The team can define its audience and the dietary question first, then compare custom and existing-formula options. Ask manufacturers for written details on samples, minimums, complete costs, testing, responsibility boundaries and formula rights.
Match decisions with their evidence: user research for needs, testing for sample performance, supplier records for production and quality, and SKU-specific review for the China pathway. Use those records to settle the plan step by step.
Review the key points
- FD1 remains in discovery; formula, final format and launch timing are open.
- US manufacture and China cross-border retail are intentions, not completed production or market access.
- Manufacturer capabilities, responsibilities and commercial terms require written confirmation.

The turnkey scope and priority are FD1 project requirements; the FDA source provides general US supplement manufacturing context.
The cross-border route is a project intention; the 2018 policy is not current approval of a specific SKU.
This section proposes next research steps; it does not report a contract, approval or purchase.
